Winter dry skin for menopause

Galápagos Tortoise 3, Melbourne ZooWe are on the cusp of spring, coming out of our hibernation!  Winter dry skin manifests in chapped lips, dry, flaky patches, scaly knees and elbows, what do you experience?  Working outside chaps your hands and face.  Working with paper bleeds the moisture out of your hands.  Not licking your lips is not an option!  However, it contributes to the problem!  What do you do for those cracks on the tips of your fingers and around your nails?  Those can be painful!

Here are a few tips that I have found helpful over the years, trying the latest and greatest, I come back to these products.  Consistency is key!

I keep Bag Balm on my bathroom counter.  I have a large container and fill up a couple of small containers for my purse, desk, and truck.  I massage it on my cuticles in the morning, and around the tips of my fingers.  I get those sore skin cracks otherwise, so I am very consistent, applying throughout the day as needed.  I also use it for a lip gloss, either over or under my lipstick.  I use it on my nose after blowing so I avert a sore, red, chapped nose.  It really lasts!  Comparing cost and effectiveness, Bag Balm can’t be beat!  Find it at your local discount store in the first aid aisle, ask about the small containers for refill purposes.

De-stress for menopause

DSCN0365It’s all about stress management!  How are you handling yours?  Have you identified those things that stress you?  What changes in your body do you notice when stressed?  High color?  A feeling of anxiety?  Feeling overwhelmed?  A feeling of panic?

Stress depletes the adrenal gland, our only source of estrogen production for menopause.  Stress management for menopause becomes a high priority!

What can you do when you find yourself becoming stressed?  Taking deep breaths, breathing in and out, recenters and also lowers blood pressure.  Inhale and exhale with a count of five seconds each.  Have a mantra for yourself when you find yourself in stressful situations.  Talk your way to your “good spot”!

When I inhale, I think “good in”, and “garbage out” with my exhalation.  A couple of rounds of deep breathing puts my feet back on the ground for menopause!

Maintenance on the Dynamite 180 diet

The Dynamite 180 diet program is great!  It takes you through weight loss, stabilization, and maintenance!  Maintenance is keeping within two pounds of your weight goal, working with old and new food habits.  This is the time you add back in some of your past favorites, seeing how they work, and which ones will never be a good choice for your diet plan.  If you push yourself over the edge, you can tighten up your diet with the food choices on the protocol.  I have found the Dynamite 180 diet to be very manageable!  I love being lighter and thinner!

Check it out!  Grab the link on the menu tab above, then click on Human on the left, then click on 180.  Scroll down and view the video, it gives you the “skinny” as does my previous blogs!

Here’s to your healthy lifestyle choices, for menopause, before, and beyond!

180 diet stabilization is working!

34/365 - B is for Battling the BulgeAlmost two weeks into stabilization!  This plan continues to work!  Again, for a three week period, I continue to eat off the food list, with no 180 drops, journal daily, weigh daily, keeping within two pounds of my goal weight.

It’s been easy, with no fluctuation the first week, then a one pound loss in the last couple of days.  I have deviated a little with a couple of meals out, and some chocolate!  Still easily within stabilization goals!

Weighing daily helps remind me that yes, I truly did lose the weight, and to keep me on course with my food journaling.  I’m so grateful to be thinner and lighter, for my own health and wellness, and the trickle down effect with my family and horsemanship!
